SJPWeddings.com | New and Improved

Good morning and happy Friday.  We have exciting news today.  Do you recall that we recently updated the ShoelessJohnny.com website.  Well, it was hard not to notice how “long in the tooth” the SJPWeddings.com website was in comparison.  What did that mean?  It means that we built a new website, that is cleaner, more modern, and uses better management technology so it is easier to access with your mobile device and easier for me to update (that’s the part I really like).  Here’s a quick screen grab of the new design.  To celebrate, I’m taking 25% off any regularly priced wedding or guest book/album that is ordered in the month of August.  I’m also going to discount all wedding related prints on metals by 25% during the month of August as well.  If you want a really cool (and substantial) way to display a photo, there’s nothing that can beat getting prints on metal.  The metal replaces the paper in this process and the image is placed on a 1mm thick aluminum plate and covered with nice layer of clear coat.  Think Italian sports car quality wrapped around all the people you love.  If you want to get in on the sale, contact me directly.

Ok, that’s enough from me, go take a look and let us know what you think by leaving a comment or dropping us a line.

Boise Twilight Criterium | SJP Style

Boise has been my home now for a little over 10 years. I moved here after a 5 year stint in Montana in 2000. There are a number of things that are quintessentially “Boise” in my mind. Very few of those “thing” are as strong of a representation of what Boise is to me like the Twilight Criterium. The Boise Twilight Criterium is in it’s 23rd year of goodness. The heart of downtown is closed and a race course is erected consisting of four hard right hand turns (some more than a full 90°). Think NASCAR, but with actual athletes and no stink of gasoline. That means “rubbing is racing” and the action and excitement is high. Riders in the pro categories average 33mph for 1.5 hours. When the peloton passes it creates it’s own breeze that roars past with a rush of cow bells, clickers, and screams of “allez” (essentially meaning “go” in french). If you’ve never been, it’s highly recommended. It’s good fun for the whole family.

It was another excellent year for the Twilight Criterium. Here are a few photos of the fun. I hope you enjoy.

Michael and Nikki | E’Session

I spent this last Wednesday evening enjoying the company of a wonderful couple, Nikki and Michael. We couldn’t have ordered a nicer evening – a perfect Boise summer evening by every measure. We met down in Boise Linen district, migrated to Kathryn Albertson Park just before sun set, and ended the evening with a refreshing cocktail at the Hotel Modern (they have a wonderful court yard patio with fire places and trees with plastic fruit).

Once again Michael and Nikki, let me say congratulations. I had a great time with you guys. You two are awesome together! Here’s a sneak peak of some of the evenings photos for you two.

Pass the Buck Canvas Sale

I just received word from my canvas supplier that they are going to celebrate moving into a larger building by having a canvas sale.  Why do you care?  Because I’m going to pass that savings on to you.  From midnight tonight (12:01 a.m. Wednesday July 7th) through high noon (12:00 p.m.) on Saturday July 10th all canvas will be 30% of regular price.   This discount on canvas prints applies to my fine art photos as well as to anyone who wants a canvas from a portrait session.

I think most of you know how I feel about my canvas supplier (they are THE BEST canvas printers available period!), but if you’ve missed me raving about them before here is an old post explaining some of the finer points of the getting canvas prints from Pixel2Canvas:

http://blog.shoelessjohnny.com/2009/10/20/canvas-love/

To get this deal you need to contact me directly before noon on Saturday.  For those of you who have had a recent wedding (YEAH!), if you are interested in a shinny new canvas print from your wedding at the discount price (and are trying to decide on a photo or are waiting for your final photo gallery), contact me and let me know before noon on Saturday and get your purchase setup so you can get the discount too.

Long story short, from now until Saturday is the time to get a canvas. You know you want one…

And finally, because it’s just not right to post without a photo, here’s a photo I took while on the Oregon Coast a few weekends back.  I call this one “Red Door.”  Gotta love the colors!

Aaron and Meghan | Wub, True Wub…

Want to talk about the 4th of July? I want to talk about the 4th of July and Aaron and Meghan’s absolutely perfect, beautiful, and wonderful wedding. We had the pleasure of spending Sunday with Aaron and Meghan and what is clearly the greatest group of family and friends this side of the Mississippi. The event was held at the Idaho Botanical Gardens (my new favorite place for photography) and we couldn’t have had a nicer day.

Aaron and Meghan – Thank you two so much. We can’t even start to tell you how much fun we had and how excited we are for you guys. Here are your sneak peek photos. I hope you are as excited for them as we are.
