If ever asked, I’m going to be the guy who tells you how important it is to keep learning. I don’t even care what we are talking about or who I’m talking to. The day you decide you know everything is the day that you will find yourself humbled. Maybe I shouldn’t tell you this, but if asked, there is a lot about photography that I still have to learn. It might just take me the rest of my life, but I can think of worse things to have to work on.
It was for that reason alone that made me so excited to hear that Don Giannatti was coming to Boise to teach his Lighting Essentials Workshop. Don has a number of years experience in all facets of commercial and consumer photography. We are talking about a guy who operates on a completely different level when it comes to photography both creatively and technically.
The workshop is two days of camera in hand and speedlight or studio light close by. Don takes you through his creative process of shaping light and making photos in a concise and understandable way. By Sunday evening I was spent both mentally and physically, but I’m proud to say that I came away with more knowledge and creative juices stewing, er flowing.
For the photographers out there, if the opportunity should arise, this workshop is money well spent. Don really knows his stuff and he is not shy about sharing his knowledge and ideas. Spending time with Don will not only help your photography, but your business as well.
Don, thanks for taking the road less traveled and coming to Boise. It was a great weekend and I know I’m not the only one from the workshop that appreciated your visit and workshop. As the week has passed there have been many pieces of the puzzle that have found their way into place. I know that I will be a better photographer for the experience.
